Saturday, MAY 19 - Classes: Classes for tandem & solo recreational, stock and racing canoes. Men, women and mixed. Age groups - under & over 50 with 4 or more boats in a class. Recreation, Touring and Unlimited kayaks. Guideboats. Registration: In advance through AWA, PO Box 66,Lake Clear, NY 12945 or at start line or at the start line at Ampersand Bay Resort from 9:00 - 10:30 First start: 11:00 Entry fee: $20/paddler 'Round the Mountain Race Course: Flat water race beginning at Ampersand Bay on Lower Saranac Lake. Paddle west to mouth of Saranac River, down river to a short carry around Lower Locks. Continue through Oseetah Lake to finish line on Lake Flower in Saranac Lake. Pre race shuttle recommended. Post race awards. |
6:00pm Tuesdays MAC’S Canoe Livery will host a series of paddling clinics and time trials on Upper Saranac Lake. Adirondack Watershed Alliance members free, others pay $10. August 12 - The Adirondack Watershed Alliance will again host a 30- mile flatwater race on a beautiful course. Paddlers start at the Saranac Inn on Upper Saranac Lake, go south the length of the lake to Indian Carry (1 mile) to Stoney Creek Ponds. Down twisty Stoney Creek, right onto Raquette River down to Tupper Lake Rod & Gun Club on Simon Pond. There are 2 water and snack pit stops with volunteers helping and cheering on the participants. There will be one cut-off time. All participants must be past "The Crusher" by 1 p.m. or volunteers will escort you to the finish line. The AWA Marathon was established as a warm-up race for the Adirondack Canoe Classic. There are classes for open touring, tandem & solo recreational, stock and racing canoes. Men, Women and Mixed. Age groups - under & over 50 with 4 or more boats in a class. Recreation, Touring and Unlimited kayaks. Guideboats, C-4 and War Canoes. Pre registration is always appreciated, in advance through AWA PO BOX

| September 7-9 Twenty Fifth Annual Adirondack Canoe Classic - 90 miles The Adirondack Watershed Alliance, NYS DEC, the Central Adirondack Association, Franklin County Tourism, Old Forge and Long Lake Tourism will host the 24th annual Adirondack Canoe Classic. The "90 Miler" strikes a balance of both recreational and competitive pursuit among the 250 vessels and 500+ participants who enter the event. Paddlers travel the original "highways" of the Adirondacks from Old Forge to Saranac Lake paddling through the heart of the Adirondack mountain wilderness. There are classes for open touring, tandem & solo recreational, stock and racing canoes. Men, Women and mixed. Recreation, Touring and Unlimited kayaks, Guideboats, C-4's, and War Canoes. Entry forms are sent out mid June. There is a 250-boat maximum. There is no day of race registration! Entry fee is $125 per paddler. The 2005, The 90-Miler was recognized as the "Race of the Year"
by the New York Marathon Canoe Race Association. We offer friendly competition
and genuinely warm Adirondack hospitality. The Adirondack Canoe Classic
Community is comprised of numerous small businesses, volunteers and supporters
who make the event the highlight of the paddling year for the Adirondack

September 22 The Adirondack Watershed Alliance and Long Lake Recreation
will host the end of the Adirondack paddling season festival with a backdrop
of spectacular fall foliage. The feature event will be The North
American War Canoe Championships, a 20-mile Flatwater race on
Long Lake. Other events include a 20-mile C-4 Marathon, Unlimited kayak
competition, 10 mile canoe, kayak, guideboat, outrigger boat races for
youth and adults, and plenty of fun competition and demonstrations. All
races begin and end at the beach across from the Adirondack Hotel in Long
Lake. The first race will begin at 10:00 AM. Entry fee is $25 per paddler. |
The Adirondack Canoe and Kayak Series is organized by the Adirondack Watershed Alliance (AWA). The AWA promotes water related events and activities; educates park residents and visitors about the value of clean water; is developing a stewardship network to enhance recreational opportunities and provide outdoor employment opportunities. The AWA will also host a series of paddle events and stewardship activities
during the paddling season. New volunteers, sponsors and paddlers are
always welcome. CAN YOU HELP? We are gathering information for a 90-Miler website!

is willing to share them, please contact Brian or Grace McDonnell at the
